The Age Old Sport of Falconry – the Sport of Kings

My husband Gene and I are fortunate in having a friend who is a falconer. He hunts rabbits with his Harris Hawk and we have the opportunity to photograph these magnificent birds in the field as they swoop and dive after their prey. He also has several friends who have Harris Hawks, as well as a barn owl and Saker Falcon. 

They use long haired Dachshund dogs to flush out rabbits from their dens. So my photographs include some photos of these adorable, spunky dogs as well. 

The Saker Falcon is fast as lightening, and generally hunts ducks or crows. His coloring is beautiful and it has been fun photographing it from the time it was only three weeks old.

In addition, I have had the opportunity to photograph the Peregrine Falcons and their chicks that nest in Fort Wayne on the One Summit Square Building.
